Product Overview
The PREAMP LIVE is the flagship product in Mooer's well received series of digital guitar preamps. The digital preamp models for this unit are the best of the best from Mooer. Each on is a fastidiously detailed recreation of a real-tube amplifier.
Not only does it house 12 preamps channels of your choice in one unit, the PREAMP LIVE also provides a platform for guitarists to conveniently setup and control their amp tones in any live situation, thanks to a well thought out and intuitive set of controls and connections.
CAB SIM
Like the NICRO PREAMP range, PREAMP LIVE has built-in speaker cabinet simulation. Unlike the MICRO PREAMP range, each preamp channel within the PREAMP LIVE has an independent speaker cab sim that can be setup and configured in detail using the accompanying software or mobile app.
The exciting thing is, you can even load in your own 3rd party IR files to replace these cab models and the speaker cab sim can be instantly assigned to independent outputs via a set of toggle switches on top of the unit. This allows you to use your PREAMP LIVE DI, with an amp/cab setup, or DI amp/cab setup simultaneously.
BOOST
As if this wasn't an attractive enough proposition as it is, PREAMP LIVE comes packed with a whole hose of brand new features. Each preamp channel has an independent BOOST that can be configured as pre or post preamp section. The PRE BOOST has a humped mid and slight drive to fatten things up, whilst the POST BOOST is a totally transparent volume boost for instant solo gratification without changing the preamp tone. This can be toggled on/off at any time via a footswitch.
NOISE GATES
Each preamp channel comes with independent, dual programmable adjustable noise gates (pre and post preamps) to eliminate any unwanted noises from extreme gain settings and/or external effects units.
EFFECTS LOOP
PREAMP LIVE houses 2 different kinds of effects loops. The type of effects loop you are using is assignable as a global setting, however the on/off status of the loop is independently set for each channel.
MODE 1 (SERIAL LOOP)
This provides a buffered serial effects loop with adjustable send level that is ideal for using with all kinds of external effects units. 
MODE 2 (A/B LOOP)
An exciting and attractive feature of PREAMP LIVE is the A/B Loop. Connecting your preamp live to your guitar amplifier using a 4-cable method, you can also use the analog preamp of your amplifier in any channel slot you like. When the effects loop is engaged in this mode it will bypass the digital preamp model and put the analog preamp in it's place. So, for example, you could have a digital preamp on channels 1 and 3 but have the amplifier's analog preamp on channels 2 and 4. 
TONE CAPTURE
This is the first product from Mooer to incorporate their new TONE CAPTURE technology. In short, TONE CAPTURE is an advanced EQ section that one can create by sampling external devices, such as an amplifier, drive pedal, or even a guitar.
The most obvious application for this in PREAMP LIVE is to allow the user to sample their real life amplifIer to create an EQ. That can then be applied to a digital preamp to try and match the amplifier they sampled, or to create a brand new amp tone that's never been heard before.
Each channel in PREAMP LIVE can store it's own tone capture that can be engaged or disengaged. The new creation can then be exported via the computer software as a preset, which can then be shared with other users.
SOFTWARE
Mooer have developed a brand new software platform just for PREAMP LIVE. There are versions for both MAC and WINDOWS PC which can be connected to the PREAMP LIVE using the USB port on the back of the unit.
PREAMP LIVE also houses a Bluetooth module for connecting to the mobile app software.
The software gives access to extra features such as in-depth speaker cab and power amp simulation, IR loading, preamp model selection, MIDI mapping, tone library, tone capture sharing etc.
CONNECTIONS
PREAMP LIVE sports a myriad of inputs and outputs that makes it incredibly versatile for all kind of different rig setups.
- INPUT: Standard instrument input for taking a guitar directly or from the output of your favourite pedals such as wahs, drive pedals, compressors, octavers, etc.
- SEND/RETURN: Integrated effects loop as described above
- OUTPUT/XLR OUTPUT: Standard 1/4" jack output and an XLR output with a ground lift switch to eliminate hum. Each output has completely independent speaker cab sim assignable via toggle switches on the units top panel
- MIDI IN: For providing channel selection via MIDI commands from external devices
- MIDI OUT: For controlling external devices with PREAMP LIVE and creating effects presets for each preamp channel.
- PHONES: A dedicated headphone output for silent practice without the need for any other gear
- USB: For connecting to your computer and accessing MIDI MAPPING, preamp model selection, IR loading, tone library, and much more.
