Product Overview
SPECIAL ORDER: Please note, these wiring harnesses are a special order item, and delivery time is generally around 6-8 weeks.
The heart of this drop-in prewired Strat® harness is their custom DiMarzio 5-way Super Switch made by Oak-Grigsby, configured to automatically split the bridge humbucker when combined with the middle pickup (position 2). By using parallel resistance, the single coil pickups sound like they are connected to a 250K pot, while the humbucker still sees the full resistance of the 500K pot.
This drop-in prewire harness features a combination of DiMarzio's custom designed 500K and 250K pots. First built over 45 years ago, DiMarzio wanted the smooth feel and graduated taper found on some vintage 50s guitars. Using a 10-step rotary switch, they created a taper that works with DiMarzio pickups. It’s neither a linear nor audio taper pot -- it's DiMarzio's custom taper. To further increase reliability, DiMarzio make the center shaft and threaded parts from solid machined brass instead of cheap castings.
This kit also features a Switchcraft output jack and includes both black and white switch tips for the 5-way switch.
DiMarzio wiring harnesses are all hand assembled and tested in the USA. We use the best sound-tested parts available from Oak Grigsby, Switchcraft®, Sprague®, and CTS®, and we include vintage-style cloth wire.
